Triggers and complications of ED with Dr Jennifer Gaudiani
Show Notes

In this episode, MEEDA's head representative in Lebanon, Dr Joumana Warde Kamar, receives Dr Jennifer Gaudiani. Dr Gaudiani, aka Dr G, is an internal medicine doctor who specializes in the treatment of patients suffering from eating disorders. Dr Gaudiani did her undergraduate degree at Harvard University, then completed her medical degree at Boston med school and finally achieved her Internal  Medicine training at Yale and is Board Certified in Internal Medicine. She then worked for 7 years as GP of an ED facility before founding her own ED outpatient clinic, the Gaudiani Clinic in Denver, Colorado. A strong advocate of "Health At Every Size" (HAES), Dr Gaudiani also wrote a great book titled “Sick Enough” on the management of ED and its complications, that is addressed to patients, their families and all members of the healthcare team in charge of people suffering from ED.

Together, Dr Warde Kamar and Dr Gaudiani evoke:
- the "cave person brain" or how our brain and body react to food restriction
- the complications of ED including bone density loss, pregnancy, digestive issues etc
- the role of society and of parents in modeling healthy body image for their children and how to help them deal with their children’s eating behavior - regardless of their size
- the HAES concept in the patients’ medical management

Dr. Gaudiani’s first book, Sick Enough: A Guide to the Medical Complications of Eating Disorders, was released by Routledge in October 2018 and is available on Amazon.
